HopeVersity exists to break cycles of poverty through life education. Not charity. Not motivation. Infrastructure — 100 Schools of Life, each a vertical series of micro-lessons that teach real skills, verified by real-world proof tasks. This page answers why it exists, who is behind it, and what the world looks like if it works.
The faith version leads — it is the voice we use first, because it is who we are. The investor version appears here for partners who need to hear the same mission through a different frame.
HopeVersity exists to equip the next generation with the wisdom, character, and practical skills to live with purpose — grounded in values, powered by technology, and rooted in community.
HopeVersity is building the world's first AI-powered life education system — designed for the communities traditional education left behind, and scaled through the institutions that serve them.

I knocked on my best friend's door when I was twelve years old. I just wanted to know if he could come outside and play. His mother told me he was gone. Murdered. I stood there, confused, thinking maybe I could come back tomorrow. But tomorrow never came.
That moment stayed with me. Just like the others. Friends I walked to school with — gone. Others — locked up for life. A community slowly disappearing to violence, drugs, and a system that seemed designed for us to fail. I was different. Light-skinned. Red hair. Big teeth. I didn't fit in anywhere. I was ridiculed, tested, and forced to fight just to survive.
But I had a grandmother who saw something in me and stepped in when it mattered most. A family that loved me enough to protect me. And a belief — instilled by my mother — that I was meant for something more. That belief carried me from the streets of Baltimore to engineering classrooms at IBM, where I became an early pioneer in multimedia and digital systems. Then, during the first wave of the internet, I saw what was coming before most people did — and I brought in my cofounder to help me build it. We became the world's first black and brown internet startup to be acquired during the internet dot com boom era in the 90's for eight figures.
That pattern has repeated for me for twenty-five years. I see what's around the corner, and I build platforms that meet real-world problems on the other side of it. I built digital products used by some of the world's biggest companies. I watched fortunes come and go — the 2008 crisis took my real estate portfolio and my home and I rebuilt from a neighbor's spare room with a sharper sense of what actually matters. Every platform I have ever built was built to solve a problem people would not realize was coming until it was already here. HopeVersity is the most important of them. It is the system I wish someone had built for the kid I used to be.
I built HopeVersity because I know what happens when nobody teaches you how life works. I watched it happen to every kid on my block. The ones who survived did it by accident, not by design. HopeVersity is the design — the system I wish someone had built for us. And I will not stop until every family has access to it.
Life isn't shaped by time. It's shaped by moments. And if we can learn how to recognize them — and create them — we can change everything.
These are the beliefs every product decision is measured against. If a feature does not serve one of these, it does not ship.
Education should prepare students for life, not just exams.
Every community — regardless of zip code or income — deserves world-class learning.
Faith, values, and character are not optional extras. They are the foundation.
Technology is a tool. Mentorship is the mission.
When one generation rises, it lifts the next. We build for children not yet born.
When a parent completes Financial Literacy, their children grow up in a household that talks about money differently. When a young man completes Leadership, he leads differently in his church, his neighborhood, and his home. HopeVersity is not just teaching skills. It is changing the culture of learning for generations.
Active learners across 100+ languages
Partner institutions — churches, schools, reentry orgs, nonprofits
Major industry recognizing Life-Ready Certificates as real credentials

Values are the internal contract — the things our team measures itself against when no one is watching.
Every learner is seen, known, and capable of more than the system told them.
We do what we say. We build what we promise. We stay.
Underserved communities deserve the highest quality — not second best.
No one grows alone. We build systems, not just courses.
We are not naive about the depth of the problem. We build anyway.
Whether you lead a community, fund one, or live in one — there is a place for you in this work.
